Come hear lively conversations on the intersections of punk, race, and America.

Location: Second Stage, First Thursdays Festival by IU’s Showalter Fountain.

--Juan Mora (IU CRRES/History) and Shane Greene (IU Anthropology) talk about the Mexican-American ‘proto-punk’ band ? and the Mysterians and a new book titled Punk! Las Américas Edition.

--Invited Guest, James Spooner (the creator of AFRO-PUNK), and Olga Rodríguez-Ulloa (IU American Studies and Latino Studies) talk about Spooner’s new graphic memoir, The High Desert. Black. Punk. Nowhere.


Conversations followed by live music with Skaaholics, bilingual ska-punk from Indianapolis. Opening set by Cuervo Sucio, Peruvian folk-punk made in Bloomington.

Location: The Bishop (123 S. Walnut). No cover. 18+ show. Bring ID and proof of vaccination.
